Botanical material

Tea cuts and milled powders retain the character of prepared plant material. Preparation and natural variability matter. They should not be compared with an extract as though the two are the same ingredient.

Extracts and concentrates

Extraction changes the composition relative to the original botanical. Resins, dry powders and liquid concentrates can all be extraction products, with different carriers and physical properties. An extract ratio alone does not establish measured alkaloid concentration.

Fractions and isolates

Purified fractions and individual compounds require defined chemical identity and purity. A strong total-alkaloid extract is not automatically an isolate. Qualification should establish the method, analytical evidence and commercial production route.
