Define the drink first
Describe the base formulation, pH, processing temperature, pack, serving format and expected shelf life. A clear tonic and a powdered drink mix can require different ingredient routes.
Test in the actual matrix
Solubility and dispersibility are different properties. Sedimentation, colour, bitterness and interactions with other ingredients need practical evaluation in the intended drink, including the planned processing conditions.
Plan the route to scale
Use a scoped sequence: ingredient screening, bench trial, pilot, specification and production planning. Confirm the destination market and finished-product requirements before committing to manufacturing. Trials and analytical work should be budgeted explicitly.
